It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise than for a man to hear the song of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:5 The main theme of Proverbs is comparing the life of a wise person with the life of a fool. A wise person is one who through instruction and correction has developed the skills needed to live successfully. A fool has, by rejecting instruction and correction, not learned to live a skillful life. A fool is a person who refuses to accept correction and rebuke when needed.
