Learning Philosophy
The learning philosophy of Loving Hearts Learning Place Child Care Ministry is that from birth young children learn best by actively experiencing their world. In their early years children explore their environment with all of their five senses. By using real hands-on materials, children make discoveries every day which lay the foundation for later more academic learning experiences. They do this through play, which is the child’s preparation for the more abstract learning needed for reading and math. Play is the work of young children, and our classrooms become the laboratories for that work. We encourage children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try new ideas and think creatively. We want to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. We allow them to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for them. We help them develop good habits and attitudes, particularly a positive sense of themselves, which will make a difference throughout their lives.
Program
Loving Hearts Learning Place Child Care Ministry offers full-time and part-time child care for families in Franklin Township and the surrounding area. The program provides loving supportive care for young children in a Christian setting. All activities are planned to be developmentally appropriate and to convey to the children the value, challenge, and excitement of learning and sharing together.
The Child Care is available for infants six weeks of age through children in kindergarten and is open from 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The infants’ day will include time for much physical contact and interaction with the caregivers as well as feeding, diapering, and nap times. The infant/adult ratio is 3:1, allowing time for individual attention for each baby.
Toddlers will enjoy exploring their world through individual play, social interaction with one another, and developing relationships with their adult caregivers. Their day will include activities for development of fine motor and large muscle skills and language and cognitive growth, as well as lunch, snacks, and nap time. Toddler/adult ratio is 4:1.
Children ages two and over will have preschool each morning, during which they will enjoy creative art experiences, group sharing time, active and quiet play, and a variety of learning centers, fine motor and large muscle development, activities planned to increase language and cognitive skills, and opportunities for creative expression and imaginative play. Activities are planned around a theme-based curriculum developed by the lead teachers at each age level. Afternoon rest times are scheduled for all children. Lunch and snack times provide further opportunities for social growth and sharing of ideas.
