Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us to make disciples of all nations. At Southminster we take that call to be our mission.  It begins where we are, in our own Southeast Indianapolis Metro Area, and spreads to every nation. Southminster members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as preparing coffee and distributing bulletins on Sunday to feeding the hungry.

God’s Bounty Food Pantry

Southminster is one of the founding congregations for God’s Bounty, a not-for-profit food pantry that exists to distribute food to the needy in Franklin Township, Marion County, Indiana and surrounding area. Our members serve in various capacities at God’s Bounty to provide food to people who are having difficulty providing food for their families.  Southminster serves at God’s Bounty Food Pantry on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 1 pm until 7 pm. Volunteers are needed during that time. Volunteers are also welcome from 10:30 am – 11:30 am to unload the food truck & on the preceding Wednesday from 6 pm – 7pm to stock shelves.  If you want to volunteer, contact Chris Meyers (chrisymyers@yahoo.com).

Music

If you love to sing or play an instrument and you want to use your gifts in worship, you’ll find a warm group of of people who share your passion for music at Southminster. Contact Kris Wilcher (kriswilcher@hotmail.com).  If you are interested in performing special music during Sunday Worship, there are many opportunities throughout the year.

Communication / Media & Technology

We are actively seeking a person who will help us use media to spread the gospel and communicate with members.  In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for the kingdom of Christ. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio format. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.  Contact Conrad Rockey at conrockey@aol.com if you are interested in serving in this area.

Prayer

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Southminster is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty.  A small group gathers every Monday at 3:00 pm for an hour of prayer in the sanctuary.

Camp Olivet Counselors and Volunteers

Each summer, Southminster hosts two weeks (Junior and Senior) at Camp Olivet. The week-long camps involve games, a lot of teaching, great food, good worship, and the intentional influence of camp counselors. The camp counselors are selected, screened, and trained for this important camp ministry. They find that their ministry is personally rewarding, and both campers and counselors grow in the process.
